Train Simulator

Train Simulator GP38-2 Series, By: 3D-Perfection.Com

This Train Simulator page describes not only the train simulator version of the GP (general purpose) 38-2 locomotive, but we will get into some minor details of the real machine itself.

Thanks to train simulator, we as modelers, railroaders, and hobbyists have come to a point of realization. A realization that I use to dream about long before train simulator came into the picture.

I can't count how many times I use to talk to fellow railroad modelers about how nice it would be to have a computer train simulator. All of my hours spent on those secondary jobs, raising money for that "other brass" model to complete my collection, could be spent actually creating those models myself, and at much less expense.

Now, don't miss understand what I'm saying here, I still love the actual locomotive model, and I'd prefer it over the train simulator model, but lets face the facts. Most of us are not rich enough to afford every locomotive our favorite railroad ever owned.

Hence, the Microsoft Simulator.

Now, with train simulator, I'm pulling my hair out trying to find the hours to complete all of the msts locomotives I have always wanted in my collection. Yes sir, from one evil, to another. But anyway, let us talk about the GP38-2 loco from EMD, rather then how many packages of Tums I eat a day...

The EMD GP38-2 locomotive was introduced on January 1, 1972, and superseded the EMD GP38 locomotive series. The biggest differences between the GP38 and the GP38-2 are for the most part, internal.

There are many different variations on the GP38-2, and they are due to customer demands. Railroads such as Canadian National specified wide "comfort cabs" on one order of the Geeps, while railroads such as Southern, NdeM, and N&W, all took delivery of high-short hood versions.

The 3D-Perfection.Com, Train Simulator version of the GP38-2 model is no different. We have tried to "simulate" the model to represent the railroad it is texture mapped for. We also have planned updates to these models in the near future, and our customers only have to download the package they purchased previously, re-enter the software reg-key, and they will have the updated train simulator version.

We have plans to release many more of these beautiful locomotives in the future, as well as other top ranking locos from EMD, as well as other manufacturers. If you'd like to read more on the EMD series of locomotives, I would highly suggest a visit to the Fallen Flags website of George Elwood. You can, and will find tons of information on everything railroading.
